Scan Holdings Completes Industrial Land Acquisition Process

Scan Holdings successfully completed the entire legal process of acquiring approximately 44 acres (178,000 square metres) of prime industrial land in the state of Gujarat, India. Gujarat is the fastest growing industrial state in India. Its investor and industry friendly policies, world class infrastructure and dynamic leadership have made it a favoured destination in Asia Pacific region. It boasts of several sea-ports on its 1600 km coast line that facilitate import and export of raw materials and finished goods. Scan Holdings plans to build several packaging factories on this land over next few years. These factories are aimed at providing world class packaging to the food, beverage and other industries in the region. It will further encourage large multinationals to invest into India, who have been hesitating so far due to lack of availability of right packaging for their products. Surely, a forward looking step which will not just help Scan Holdings, but revolutionise the whole industry in coming years.

Landmark Judgement on Packaging by Supreme Court of India

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court today ordered a ban on the sale of tobacco products like gutkha and pan masala in plastic pouches from March 2011, while asking the government to conduct a survey on the ill effects of these products within eight weeks. This is a landmark judgement in a way, that soon industry groups and environmentalists can take this up and ask for an extension of this ban on all packaging that is using plastics, but has a scope to go to alternates in the interest of environment and mankind.

Meeting with Gujarat Chief Minister

Scan Holdings’ management had the honour of hearing the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat, Mr. Narendra Modi’s views on packaging industry in one of our meetings with him. Mr. Modi who is hailed by the entire industry for making Gujarat the most investor friendly state in India was vocal about his concern for the environment. He appreciated the plans of Scan Holdings to start factories that produce environment friendly products. With his dynamic vision, he shared many ideas like using the 1600 km long coast line of Gujarat for boosting fisheries in the region, which would in turn give further push to the packaging industry.

Metpack 2008, Essen, Germany

Scan Holdings participated in the largest Metal Packaging Exhibition held at Essen, Germany during April 2008. Scan Holdings was one of the two participants from India representing the metal packaging converters/sellers. It was a useful participation where we could meet our clients from different parts of the World.

Ball Packaging Aurangabad Plant- Ground Breaking Ceremony

Ball Packaging Europe (BPE) conducted the Ground Breaking Ceremony at the location where it is building the first two piece beverage Can plant in India. The plant which is being built with an investment of almost Euro 100 million would not only be the first plant in India to produce 2 piece beverage Cans, but it will also be the first to do so in steel. Speaking on this occassion, Frank Weekers, Chief Financial Officer of BPE praised Scan Holdings for its support in this venture and announced to the press that Scan Holdings was its only partner in this venture. All major customers, suppliers and business associates graced this event at plant location.

Scan Holdings Moves to a Bigger Office

Scan Holdings shifted its corporate office to its new and bigger office in prime location of Meera Bagh, West Delhi. Keeping in the future expansion in mind, Scan acquired close to 4000 square feet of space which can accommodate almost 75 staff members comfortably. The office is equipped with all modern communication and infrastructure for servicing our clients faster & better with greater comfort and efficiency for all employees.

Pack Expo, Las Vegas, USA

Trying to expand its horizons, Scan Holdings participated for the first time in the largest packaging exhibition held at Las Vegas, USA held during October 2007. Though our participation faced some difficulties due to some last minute changes in delegates to the exhibition, lost luggage on arrival in USA and so on; but our all ladies team put up a brave front and still made the event successful. We hope that very soon, Indian Companies in packaging would be on the World map giving our consumers a taste of the best.

Delegation to USA with Food Processing Minister

Mr. Rajiv Agarwal, Managing Director of Scan Holdings visited USA along with the delegation lead by Hon’ble Subodh Kant Sahai, Minister for Food Processing Industry in India. Useful discussions were held on increasing business between the two countries with various ministries, business houses and chambers of commerce in Washington, New York Chicago, San Francisco and California. The Minister explained to the US business houses on the emphasis being given by the Indian Government to promote the food processing sector. He explained that less than 4% food, fruits & vegetables produced in India get processed and packed. This leaves scope for much larger quantities of processing thereby reducing wastages of perishable commodities. Thus India can target to become the food factory of the World. Scan Holdings views this as a great opportunity that will lead to a substantial growth in quality packaging materials.
