Green Gold, Palghar

Palghar is a district in Vikramgad region of Maharashtra. The local community from this village has generations of expertise in the art of making a large variety of products from Bamboo.

The funding provided by Scan Packaging Private Limited (a fully owned subsidiary of Scan Holdings Private Limited) was used to contribute to the process of skill development and production of bamboo products in this region. The craftsmanship of these artisans has developed an altogether new market across India for bamboo products, such as home decorations, baskets, boxes, chairs, serving trays, clothes, bags etc. This has given a source of employment to the tribal women in this area and has also brought to light the great skills of this community of artisans.

This project is fully run by Keshav Shrushti, a not-for-profit organization that stands tall as a hub of innovative and versatile educational, irrigational and social projects aimed at creating socially conscious leaders and dedicated citizens of the country.
